Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Catherine Cortez Masto (D-Nev.) today joined all of her Senate Democratic colleagues to unveil a Congressional Review Act (CRA) resolution that would combat the Trump administration’s latest efforts to erode pre-existing condition protections for millions of Americans and enable providers to offer junk plans that cost more and cover less.
“Junk plans are yet another attempt by the Trump administration to take away health care from thousands of Nevadans. They don’t cover essential health benefits that every Nevadan deserves, including coverage for prescription drugs, emergency rooms visits, maternal care and protections for pre-existing conditions. I’ll continue fighting this administration’s efforts to deceive Nevadans into low-benefit plans that undermine their ability to care for themselves and their families.”
BACKGROUND:
The Congressional Review Act (CRA) resolution, supported by all 47 Senate Democrats, would roll back the 1332 waiver rule – another Trump administration effort to sabotage Americans’ health care and attack the 130 million Americans who stand to lose pre-existing condition protections. Senate Democrats can force a majority-threshold vote on this CRA resolution later this fall, putting Republicans on the record yet again as to whether they support pre-existing condition protections.
