Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Catherine Cortez Masto (D-Nev.) cosponsored a bill, led by Senator Michael Bennet (D-Colo.), to restore U.S. climate regulations to what they were before President Trump took office. The Clean Air, Healthy Kids Act would undo the Executive Order signed by the President in March of 2017, which dismantled health and environmental protections, by ensuring that no federal funds could be used to implement it.
“This Administration is endangering the health and welfare of millions of Americans by weakening the country’s efforts to combat climate change. Just as importantly, the President’s policies harm our economy by exposing us to the costs of the climate crisis. Nevadans rely on innovative, cutting-edge industries to provide good paying jobs in the green energy and transportation sectors, as well as our outdoor and recreation industries. I’m committed to doing all I can in the Silver State and across the nation to retain robust protections for our environment and our economy.”
In additions to Senators Cortez Masto and Bennet, U.S. Senators Sheldon Whitehouse (D-R.I.), Cory Booker (D-N.J.), Tom Udall (D-N.M.), Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn.), Mazie Hirono (D-Hawaii), Ron Wyden (D-Ore.), Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.), Jack Reed (D-R.I.), Richard Durbin (D-Ill.), Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.), Edward Markey (D-Mass.), Martin Heinrich (D-N.M.), Chris Van Hollen (D-Md.), Kirsten Gillibrand (D-N.Y.), Kamala Harris (D-Calif.), Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.), Robert Menendez (D-N.J.), and Patrick Leahy (D-Vt.) also cosponsored the bill.
