Cortez Masto Cosponsors Resolution to Recognize Native American Heritage Month

Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Catherine Cortez Masto (D-Nev.) today joined a resolution with Senators John Hoeven (R-N.D.) and Tom Udall (D-N.M.) to recognize the month of November as Native American Heritage Month. The resolution celebrates the heritage, culture and history of Native Americans and recognizes the contributions Native Americans have made to our nation.

“Nevada’s tribal communities enrich our state with beautiful histories and traditions that date back thousands of years. Commemorating November as Native American Heritage Month is an opportunity to celebrate Native communities’ many contributions to our nation, as well as recommit our country to upholding the sacred trust relationship to advance and empower our tribal communities. Today and every day, I will keep fighting in the Senate to protect and promote the rights of all indigenous people.”

In addition to Senators Cortez Masto, Hoeven and Udall, U.S. Senators Ron Wyden (D-Ore.), Thom Tillis (R-N.C.), Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.), Brian Schatz (D-Hawaii), Tammy Baldwin (D-Wis.), Jon Tester (D-Mont.), Mike Rounds (R-S.D.), Roger F. Wicker (R-Miss.), Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.), Mike Crapo (R-Idaho), Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn.), Jeffrey A. Merkley (D-Ore.), James Lankford (R-Okla.) and Martha McSally (R-Ariz.) also cosponsored this resolution.
