Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senators Catherine Cortez Masto (D-Nev.) and Jacky Rosen (D-Nev.) today applauded $13,417,083 in grants from the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) under the Continuum of Care (CoC) Program, which provides support for those experiencing homelessness. The 50 grants were awarded to organizations in Las Vegas, Henderson, Boulder City, Reno, Sparks, Carson City, Fallon, Winnemucca, and Pahrump.
“We are pleased to see these grants go to organizations all over the Silver State working hard to support Nevadans who don’t have a stable place to live. Nevada is facing one of the worst housing crises in the nation, and we are committed to working in Washington to address this problem and secure federal funds for our state. We’ll keep pushing to ensure that all Nevadans have affordable housing in both the short and long term.”
BACKGROUND:
The Continuum of Care (CoC) Program is designed to promote communitywide commitment to the goal of ending homelessness; provide funding for efforts by nonprofit providers and State and local governments to quickly rehouse homeless individuals and families while minimizing the trauma and dislocation caused by homelessness; promote access to and effect utilization of mainstream programs by homeless individuals and families; and optimize self-sufficiency among individuals and families experiencing homelessness.
