Las Vegas, Nev. – U.S. Senator Catherine Cortez Masto (D-Nev.) today joined a call with nurses across Nevada for a conversation about the ways she can support medical professionals during the COVID-19 pandemic and highlighted her work to ensure Nevada’s nurses continue to have the support and supplies they need to care for patients and keep themselves safe.
“Nevada’s nurses have saved countless lives during the coronavirus pandemic, all while putting their own health and safety on the line in order to serve their communities. These brave men and women deserve every resource and support available to help them effectively treat patients in need and feel safe going home to their families after their shifts. I’ll continue fighting to ensure Congress meets the needs of all our health care providers during this challenging time.”
BACKGROUND:
Senator Cortez Masto recently joined a letter urging Senate leadership to ensure that any future COVID-19 pandemic legislation include language requiring the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) to issue an Emergency Temporary Standard (ETS) requiring employers to develop and implement a comprehensive plan to protect all health care workers. She has also called for additional mental health resources for nurses and other health care professionals combatting coronavirus.
