Las Vegas, Nev. – U.S. Senator Catherine Cortez Masto (D-Nev.) today announced that the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has awarded $3,893,248 to the state of Nevada for childhood vaccinations, COVID-19 vaccine preparedness, medical research, and economic development on tribal lands.
“I’m glad to see these funds going to the state of Nevada for health care and economic development. It’s particularly important that Nevada receive the funding the Senate approved in the CARES Act to help prepare for the rollout of a coronavirus vaccine. I continue to call on Congress to pass additional relief legislation that will include more vaccine funding. The health and well-being of Nevadans, including members of Nevada’s tribes, will always be my first priority.”
BACKGROUND:
The HHS funding will be distributed as follows:
- $1,904,456 to the Nevada Department of Health and Human Services to fund immunization and vaccination for children
