Las Vegas, Nev. – U.S. Senator Catherine Cortez Masto (D-Nev.) released the following statement on the passing of “Mama” Inez Casale Stempeck, owner of Casale’s Halfway Club, the oldest continuously family-owned and operated restaurant in Reno.
“Inez Casale Stempeck provided the Reno community with great food and even better company for more than 70 years. Born to Italian immigrant parents and widowed at a young age, she became a successful business owner, entrepreneur and matriarch for the Reno-Sparks community. Casale’s Halfway Club is still a proud family business, and Mama Inez – as the community so affectionately called her – will be greatly missed. Paul and I send our condolences to Mrs. Stempeck’s family and loved ones during this difficult time.”
