Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Catherine Cortez Masto (D-Nev.) voted today to confirm Antony Blinken as Secretary of State.

I was especially glad to hear him recognize the challenge China represents to our economy and to the human rights we value. In working with Secretary Blinken, I will continue to advocate for Nevada’s priorities.”

Senator Cortez Masto has underscored the importance of checking Chinese economic competition with the United States. Along with Senator Tom Cotton (R-Arkansas), she recently hosted a hearing in the Senate Banking Committee’s Subcommittee on Economic Policy, entitled “US-China: Winning the Economic Competition, Part II.” She has introduced the bipartisan Safeguarding American Innovation Act to strengthen the security and integrity of United States scientific and research enterprise. She has also championed the bipartisan American Privacy Protection (APP) Act to require digital apps to disclose their country of origin.
