Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Catherine Cortez Masto (D-Nev.) issued the following statement for the 20th anniversary of September 11th, 2001: “Twenty years ago nearly 3,000 Americans were killed in a senseless act of terrorism. Paul and I continue to remember the lives we lost and stand with the countless families and communities touched by this horrific attack. This day is also a reminder of the heroism of the firefighters, first responders, law enforcement officers, and every day civilians who looked for survivors, helped the injured to safety, and showed up to work in the days and weeks afterwards to help their fellow citizens in the wake of unimaginable tragedy. Our nation owes them a debt of gratitude, today and always. “As we commemorate the anniversary of 9/11, we must not forget the profound evil that inspired that day. I’ll continue to do all I can to protect our veterans, combat terrorism, stand up for our national security, and honor the legacy of all the heroes whose lives were forever altered that day. And I will remain grateful for the American people who came together in the aftermath to show that this nation remains united and strong.” ### |
