“From business and our military to science and education, Latinas’ impact is felt at every level in American society, and we’re here to make our mark in history,” said Senator Cortez Masto. “I am the first Latina Senator but I know I won’t be the last. That’s why I’m proud to introduce this resolution celebrating Latinas’ immeasurable contributions our economy and social fabric, as well as recommitting ourselves to building a better future for our nieces and daughters.”

In addition to Senator Cortez Masto, the resolution is cosponsored by Senators Bob Menendez (D-N.J.), Jeff Merkley (D-Oreg.), Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.), Alex Padilla (D-Calif.), Ed Markey (D-Mass.), Kyrsten Sinema (D-Ariz.), Martin Heinrich (D-N.M.), Jack Reed (D-R.I.), Ben Ray Luján (D-N.M.), Chris Van Hollen (D-Md.), Tammy Baldwin (D-Wis.), Patty Murray (D-Wash.), Peter Welch (I-Vt.), Chris Coons (D-Del.), Maria Cantwell D-Wash.), Jacky Rosen (D-Nev.), Bob Casey (D-Pa.), Jeanne Shaheen (D-N.H.), Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.), Sheldon Whitehouse (D-R.I.), Ron Wyden (D-Oreg.), Mark Kelly (D-Ariz.), Mazie Hirono (D-Hawaii), Sherrod Brown (D-Ohio), Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.), Ben Cardin (D-Md.), Michael Bennet (D-Colo.), Cory Booker (D-N.J.), Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), Tim Kaine (D-Va.), Amy Klobuchar (D-MN), Dick Durbin(D-Ill.), and Maggie Hassan (D-N.H.).

She passed into law her bipartisan legislation to authorize a series of U.S. quarters to honoring women’s history and suffrage, which will feature Queen of Salsa Celia Cruz, among other prominent women. She has pushed legislation to promote women and underrepresented groups in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) education and careers. And she regularly supports legislation to advance women and Latinas’ professional opportunities, such as federal funding for Minority-Serving Institutions, including the four Hispanic-Serving Institutions in Nevada.
