West Wendover, Nev. – On Friday, U.S. Senator Catherine Cortez Masto (D-Nev.) visited West Wendover and spoke with Mayor Jasie Holm and City Manager Chris Melville about her work to support the city. Senator Cortez Masto has secured over $1.8 million in federal funding to help both the West Wendover Police Department and the West Wendover Clinic purchase vital new equipment and to support road improvements and business development opportunities downtown. She is working with the city to secure additional funding to make additional infrastructure upgrades throughout the city.
“It’s always a pleasure to visit West Wendover and discuss how we can continue to work together to support the families and businesses that call eastern Nevada home,” said Senator Cortez Masto. “I’ll keep fighting to get our rural communities the resources and federal funding they need to upgrade their infrastructure, keep their residents safe, and support their economies.”
Senator Cortez Masto is a strong supporter of Nevada’s rural communities. She’s delivered record funding to improve broadband access and introduced the bipartisan Invest to Protect Act to help small law enforcement agencies fund training, mental health support, and recruitment and retention. Cortez Masto has also introduced bipartisan legislation to make rural Western communities more competitive when it comes to applying for critical infrastructure grants to improve school buildings, promote small businesses, and bolster health care services. As part of her work to make sure rural Nevadans can better access federal funds and service, she has also ensured that rural Nevada communities are in the Rural Partners Network.
