Washington, D.C. – Today, U.S. Senators Catherine Cortez Masto (D-Nev.) and Jacky Rosen (D-Nev.) announced more than $31 million in new federal funding for Nevada police departments, courts, non-profits, and Tribes to support public safety and victim services programs. Cortez Masto and Rosen have consistently voted to fund these programs, and the full list of Department of Justice (DOJ) awards secured by the Senators is available HERE.
“To keep Nevada families safe, we need to make sure our local law enforcement has the funding and support they need crack down on crime, hold perpetrators accountable, and support victims,” said Senator Cortez Masto. “I’ll always stand with our police and support their work to keep our communities safe.”
“Law enforcement officers are the heroes who keep Nevada safe, ” said Senator Rosen. “I’m proud to see this funding is coming to Nevada to keep hardworking families, small businesses, and communities safe. I will always work in a bipartisan way to support public safety and victim services programs.”
Senators Cortez Masto and Rosen have been strong advocates in the Senate for our police officers. Cortez Masto leads the annual bipartisan work to secure funding for the Byrne JAG grant program, the leading source of criminal justice funding in the country. Her bipartisan bills to combat the crisis of law enforcement suicide and provide mental health resources to police officers have been signed into law by presidents of both parties, and she’s fighting to combat illegal drug activity and provide small police departments with more funding.
