Thank you for reaching out to my office for assistance regarding your housing matter. My team is committed to identifying resources and inquiring when possible to help those who need it. While my office cannot offer direct financial or placement assistance, ensuring the housing security of Nevadans is a top priority for me. If you are having trouble paying your mortgage and fear a foreclosure, have a pending rental housing voucher or application, or think you have been the victim of discrimination when seeking housing, please complete the form below for further assistance.

My office does not use constituent casework to intervene on the behalf of a fee-for-service agent, including but not limited to attorneys. Nor do we correspond with fee-for-service agents for a constituent’s case. We encourage you to work directly with your HUD approved counselor or representative.

Nevada Housing Resources

Rental Assistance

The Southern Nevada Housing Authority, the Reno Housing Authority, and the Nevada Rural Housing Authority operate public housing programs and provide Section 8 rental housing vouchers that help low-income families find and afford rental housing. Additionally, nonprofit organizations like Nevada HAND and HELP of Southern Nevada also provide affordable housing options.

Catholic Charities of Northern Nevada offers assistance and requires individuals seeking assistance to complete a screening assessment.

The Salvation Army provides assistance on an emergency basis only for those going through a short term or an unforeseen financial crisis. These funds are based on availability.

City of Reno Emergency Rental Assistance program for rental and deposit assistance. For this program you must meet the following criteria:

Income limit of 60% or below
Be at risk of experiencing homelessness or housing instability
Provide proof you will be able to sustain your household after the assistance period ends.

Reno Housing Authority provides Emergency Housing Vouchers for those experiencing homelessness or at risk of homelessness, fleeing from domestic violence, sexual assault or human trafficking.

Eviction-Prevention Assistance

Clark County Social Services: Offers various assistance programs, including rental and utility assistance, which may help prevent eviction.

Legal Aid Center of Southern Nevada: Offers free legal assistance to low-income individuals, including help with eviction-related issues.

Nevada Legal Services: Offers free legal assistance to eligible low-income individuals on Section 8 who are facing an eviction.

Homelessness and Emergency Shelter

The Nevada Homeless Alliance is a statewide coalition of organizations that work to prevent and end homelessness in Nevada. They provide resources and support to individuals and families experiencing homelessness, including emergency shelter, transitional housing, and permanent supportive housing.

Clark County Social Services: Offers various assistance programs, including emergency homeless shelters, transitional and permanent housing programs, and indigent nursing home care.

Help Hope Home Resource Guide: Offers a directory of resources and services available for individuals’ experiencing homelessness or at risk of homelessness in Southern Nevada.

Courtyard Homeless Resource Center: Offers services and resources for individuals experiencing homelessness. It serves as a centralized location where individuals can access shelter, meals, hygiene facilities, case management, medical and mental health services, substance abuse counseling, employment assistance, and other supportive services.

SafeNest: Offers shelter for women fleeing domestic violence..

Domestic Violence Resource Center: Offers short-term emergency shelter for women fleeing domestic violence. You can contact them at 775-329-4150 for assistance.

Nevada Cares Campus: Offers shelter to those experiencing homelessness and warp-around services for those seeking resources at 1775 E. 4th St., Reno, NV 89512.

OUR Place : Offers shelter for women and families.

Reno-Sparks Gospel Mission: Offers emergency and long-term services for men and women in need.

The Eddy House: Offers emergency shelter for youth from 18-24 years old.

Homeownership

The Nevada Housing Division offers several programs to help low- and moderate-income families find and afford housing, including down payment assistance, mortgage credit certificates, and rental assistance.

NV Housing Search Tool: Is an online platform that helps individuals search for affordable housing options in Nevada.

Home is Possible: Is a homeownership program offered by the Nevada Housing Division to help make homeownership more accessible and affordable for Nevada residents.

Nevada Rural Housing: Provides various programs to promote homeownership and affordable housing options for residents in rural areas of Nevada. The Homeownership Programs include down payment assistance, mortgage credit certificates, and homebuyer education.

Foreclosures

Housing counseling agencies offer guidance on home buying, renting, reverse mortgages, and default and foreclosure prevention. If you have attempted to contact these agencies without success, please reach out to my office for assistance.

Fair Housing

Discrimination based on your race, color, national origin, religion, sex, family status, or disability is against the law. The resources on this page will help you to understand your rights and to find out where you can go if you need help.

Home Improvements

The Nevada Housing Division’s Weatherization Assistance Program provides free energy efficiency upgrades to eligible low-income homeowners and renters, which can help reduce heating and cooling costs and improve the quality of their housing. The program also helps address health and safety issues like mold and ventilation problems.

ReBuilding Together Northern Nevada offers home repair assistance to people in need with a focus on seniors and veterans.

Overall, there are many resources available to Nevada residents who may be facing housing issues. Additional resources may also be available at the local level, so it’s a good idea to contact your local housing authority or nonprofit organization for more information. Nevada 211 can assist you in connecting with local resources available to you.

Consumer Protection

The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) provides resources and tools to help consumers make informed financial decisions and handles consumer complaints regarding financial products or services including mortgages. If you feel you need help with financial products, you can contact the CFPB and submit complaints about:
